GETTING INTO BOATING

GETTING INTO BOATING

What could possibly be better than ‘getting away from it all’ on your very own boat? And commanding the helm is now, more than ever, safer and easier, thanks to modern technology.

If you don't already have a first-hand taste of boating, ask a boat-owning friend to take you and your family out for a day.

Visit boat shows. You’ll find a wide variety of models and you’ll be able to talk to the experts.

One of the best sources of advice and assistance is to visit your R Marine Dealer. The friendly people at all R Marine Dealerships are highly experienced in boating and can provide a wealth of information.

THE RIGHT BOAT FOR YOU

Boats are designed for a variety of uses – among them, cruising, fishing, day or weekend recreation – and have evolved to reflect that use. Boats designed for inland waters, for instance, may not suit coastal waters.

Boats have both minimum power needs and maximum power limitations. Size, accommodation, internal layout and engine systems are all important considerations.

Your R Marine Dealer will be able to outline specific engine applications and advantages as well as advise you on the right specifications for your particular needs.

GETTING UP TO SPEED

When you have narrowed your search to one or two models, take the boats out for a sea trial. Become familiar with the equipment and systems on board and how the boat feels in a variety of conditions.

Finally, you need to know how to operate your boat safely. Acquiring the skills and knowledge of rules and regulations will involve training and time. Once again, turn to your R Marine Dealer. The staff are able to provide full tuition.
